Why we love floor to ceiling windows.

AL 1

If you live amongst majestic mountains, or if your house outlooks the city skyline, you want to breathe in every bit of that view. Create the ultimate living experience in your home by installing floor to ceiling windows, bringing the view into your home and your everyday life. However, before installing floor to ceiling windows, remember to consider the issues you might face with insulation and privacy.

The direction your house faces will determine where your floor to ceiling window should be positioned. If you live in a cold part of the world, you might want your window to be facing the sun so that you can save energy costs and warm the house. However, if temperatures rise drastically in the summer, a large glass window that doesn’t have the best insulation may not be the best idea. Inspect your home and find out where the views are and direction the sun is facing to make an informed choice about where to place your window. Installing double glazed windows or even thick curtains or blinds can help regulate the temperature in your home.

If you love your view and don’t want your privacy to be compromised, use sheer curtains that you can draw whenever you want. Alternatively, consider tinted windows that appear dark from the outside, while allowing you to enjoy your view from the inside.

Choose windows that compliment the room. Floor to ceiling can help to elongate the room and open the room into the outdoors. It can also lengthen the room in terms of height, making it appear taller than it is. Consider rooms other than the living area, such as the bathroom, the office or the walk-in closet.

Mix up the look with black or white frames, or choose a single panel instead, for an unobstructed view. However, consider the climate as you would probably want to use framed windows if you live in an area with high winds.
